Alas, no comic this week. 🙁 I had a really, really busy time last week and just couldn’t get things done. The good news is that I’ll finally very soon have a home! We’re looking to move in late December/early January, and that means I can finally get back into routines and get all of my stuff back. The comic can begin again from where it left off (once I finish with Renn’tekk, and her story is short)! Hurrah!

I’ve also had some very good job interviews lately, and with any luck I’ll be gainfully employed once again! Fingers crossed on that one.

The bad news is that all of that took up a whole ton of time and energy and filled the rest with paperwork, phone calls, and sleepless nights. I finally ran out of energy and couldn’t create a thing (nor could I successfully find the 14-20 hours required for me to do these pages). For this upcoming week I decided not to do battle with my exhaustion and to instead just take it off. Next Monday we’ll return to the regularly scheduled filler art wallpapers and comic pages. Promise. 🙂

There are still some goodies to go up on Patreon, mostly because I’m a few weeks ahead as far as sketches and short story pieces are concerned, but even that’s going to be a bit lackluster this week.

As for my choice of artwork today, I got a message from a reader recently and… let’s just say that you should pay attention to these Inktober doodles that I did a while back all about a crazy Tieke madman who thinks he can build a pair of tekk wings and fly. A little bit of coolness is going to come out of it. More about that when it’s done. ;P

So, as I type this, there’s about a week left until I run out of pre-made comics. The last finished page is scheduled for October 27th. As I’m sure you remember, the move has left me in temporary lodgings for the forseeable future and without my art supplies, for they are trapped in storage, and I can only do finished art with Photoshop at the moment. I didn’t want to continue the current story with a totally different artistic style because that would just feel really disjointed and awful, so instead, this is what I’m going to do:

Pause the current storyline, first of all. For the week beginning with Halloween, there’ll be two filler art posts instead of comics.

After that, I’m starting a new, entirely digital art side story for a while that’ll follow Renn’tekk around. Because I don’t know how long it’ll have to be, I’ll have to stay resourceful with my storytelling. It might stay as more of an exploration of the tekk way of life, or, if things go on longer than expected, I might have more than one side story (fortunately, I have plenty of ideas). Either way, I’m getting ready to post it. I have the first page completely done already and the first ten or so weeks scripted. That story will be posted on Mondays, and Thursdays will be filler art.

When I do eventually get a new home and/or a way to unpack my possessions from storage, I’ll get the hiatus stor(ies) to a good ending, compile it all into a downloadable file that I’ll make available to everyone, and remove it from the archives so that it’s not in the way of a normal read-through in the future. Then I’ll continue the current storyline as if nothing ever happened (as long as one is willing to ignore the gap in time stamps). That way everyone gets exciting new content, I get to keep my skills updated, and the actual plot doesn’t get messed up in the long run.

Again, I’m sorry for all the kerfuffle. I hope this rings as a good solution to a weird situation. I’m looking forward to showing you a different side of the world of the tekk and tikedi, myself. 🙂

…now we’re entering into the Great Big Settling Down.

I’m in Victoria! I have been for a little over a week now. Not quite two weeks. I’m unpacked – or at least my suitcases are – and I’m in temporary lodging, looking for a real home and a real job. There is more (or will be more) about that over here, at the blog I’ve started keeping:

It’s a way to keep friends and family back home updated about my life and my progress, but I think you guys might get a kick out of it, too. If you’re curious about my life, take a look. Feel free to ask me questions. It’ll make me feel more connected to normalcy. 🙂

As for comic stuff, I’m pondering how to handle things, given the situation. I still have enough comics in the buffer and enough goodies for Patreon to last until nearly the end of October, but I actually have my doubts that I’ll have a real home with solid internet in time to avoid having to go on hiatus after that. I packed my belongings into a BigSteelBox for the move and I get to go take a look at it tomorrow, however, so I might be able to get some pieces of my desktop computer out. All except for my monitor and a few unnecessary bits, I think. I can probably use my ancient 8 year old laptop for a monitor in the meanwhile… It might work. I won’t be able to get my art supplies back – those are buried at the back of the box – but I might soon have Photoshop and my Intuos tablet again, even if I don’t have my paints.

So… I’m thinking that if I have time, and I definitely have time right now, I could maybe do some comics that aren’t watercolored? Maybe I could take a pseudo hiatus in order to tell a side story and do the art in Photoshop so I’m not wrecking continuity with a different art style all of a sudden, but I can still provide all of you with content to check out.

It’s an idea.

Orrrrr I just properly go on hiatus. I’m really allergic to going on hiatus. It makes me itchy.

Comments welcome!

You’ve possibly noticed already that I’ve gotten a bit quieter than usual. There was also a period where I fell behind a bit in updating some of the categories on Patreon. I mentioned a while back that I’ll be moving to Victoria, BC in September, and the beginnings of the moving process kind of sneaked up on me and swallowed a lot more time than anticipated. First of all, sorry for that. I like to keep things rolling as best as I’m able, but it all got away on me for a while. ._.

The good news is that that shouldn’t happen from here on in. Here, I have enough comics loaded into the queue to last until nearly the end of October,  and on Patreon I have enough sketchbook pages and side story updates to last the same amount of time. A good chunk of what I’ve uploaded is automated, so even if I’m not around, you’ll still get pages.  The story of Prophecy of the Circle should continue unhindered while I myself am all discombobulated. 🙂

I will still be a lot quieter. I’m going to spend the next day or two trying to catch up on comments and messages that’ve piled up while I’ve been busy so far, and then after that I’ll probably be doing responses maybe once a week  until I get settled and established on the other side.

I won’t be able to edit or fix any of the pages in the queue.  Not for a while, anyway. There’s one or two of you who tend to seek out my typos. You can totally still go ahead and make a note of them in the comments, but just know that it’s going to be several weeks and possibly over a month (maybe as long as two months, depending on if I can get my desktop suitably set up or not) until I can fix anything. All I’m going to have for a while is my phone, my tablet, and an eight year old laptop that can’t handle Photoshop.

Storenvy and Commissions are currently closed. My Redbubble shop will stay open, though, since I don’t actually handle anything besides designing products there. 🙂

When I get a handle on all of this, Twitter is where I update the most about the state of my life. It’s gone quiet as well while I scramble to stay on top of this huge event but it should light up again with chatter from me soon. Follow me there if you’re curious. 🙂

I’m really, really allergic to going on hiatus, apparently.

Thanks for understanding! Hope to get things back to normal around here soon. 😀
