There’s a neat new app for iPhone (and hopefully, if enough attention is gathered, Android) that really caters to webcomic readers and artists alike. It looks pretty exciting, and they’re calling it Comic Chameleon! I’ll let you check out the site for the full details, because they do a great job of presenting how it’s going to work, but you should. It would be great if something like this took off. 🙂

On that note, I put in my application for Prophecy of the Circle on there, but I could use some audience participation if you can spare it. To any of you who have Twitter or Google+, it really helps if you let the creators know that this story has fans: They make it super easy to do, too!

Now, speaking of comics, I’d better get cracking on mine for next week. It’s time to park my butt for a few hours and throw paint around. ;P

Housekeeping to start! You guys have kept me hopping lately. =P There’s been some new fan art sent in lately, and I also finished adding extra bits (like the mini story written by Foldo) to the previous A Mysterious Light piece. I also added a few more sizes and options for the wallpaper version of the same image.

On that note, I’ve gotta say… Man, I’m kind of blown away by the kindness you guys are showing me. I want to start off by saying thanks for all the words of encouragement and appreciation I’ve gotten lately. You’re all fantastic. 😀

And then I want to get a bit dopey and misty-eyed because this, today, is the anniversary of ProtC’s beginning. See, when I made that decision nearly three years ago to get brave and put my story where others could see it, I actually went into the project with pretty low expectations. It’s a big, big internet and I’m but one small, shy Canadian with a head full of weird ideas. There are actually plenty out there just like me, and I never expected to find so many who get a kick and some fun out of this little universe in my head. But you do! You really do. It’s just got me full of appreciation. I’m glad you’re all here.

My corner of the internet here. It is small. It is small but it is cozy, and that is because you guys are really cool. 🙂

Hey guys. Since there was no comic this week… well, I’m loathe to let this place go without some kind of an update. I thought a few of you, at least, would be curious to see how the comic comes together. I was feeling up to pencilling the next page, so I got that done today and put up a few images for you at the Tumblr. 🙂

Special Sneak Peek: Rough Comic Pencils at Magpie’s Gold

Sorry guys. I had full intention of getting something up this Monday, either comic or filler art, but my planned artwork days were overtaken by the mother of all flus and I got trapped in bed. I’m still having a tough time stumbling around keeping hydrated and fed and medicated, but with any luck it’ll leave me alone soon and I can get back to work.

I feel bad. I hate missing a week. :<

All the joy. All! 😀

Thanks so much for the well wishes and hugs from the lot of you! I also got a gift from Foldo this year, drawn by the amazing Andalar, which I’m passing on to share with all of you. This made my day.

It’s in the Fanart section, and also available as a Wallpaper for all of you, too! When I get home to my own computer I’ll put up a few more size options, but for now, if you have a widescreen monitor you’re set.

A Strange Light

Joyous Festivus! If it’s anything like where I am, think warm thoughts and give your family and friends a hug. 🙂

I made a few changes. New, simpler, less overwhelming logo, new easier-for-everybody menubar, some layout tweaks to make everything roomier and cleaner looking… Small changes, but a bucketload of them.

There’s a section for desktop wallpapers now. I actually enjoyed putting those together quite a bit, and if anyone wants to see something particular there, I’m open to suggestions. 🙂

There’s also some more info scattered around the site, particularly new sections under the “About” header there.

Let me know if you find any broken links or problems. I think I caught everything, but it’s always possible that something slipped my notice. ‘Tis the joy of being a one-woman operation with only one and a half working eyes (strange but true). =P

With that, I’ll see you again Monday with a new comic! Onwards we shall mosey.

Still here!

All right, so this page has ended up being a bit more stagnant on my holiday than I’d anticipated. Tumblr’s been very active, but I went sort of whole hog on the vacation from Prophecy of the Circle and drawing anything with a muzzle or a beak wasn’t much fun until just recently (I’m actually missing beaks; we need more beaks). It’s a good sign that I’m back to feeling charged about it. I’d better be! The 19th isn’t that far off.

I’ve been working on things that don’t result in a lot of show and tell as well. There’s been some work on changing up/cleaning up the website that’s coming along all right, and there’s been a whole lot of writing, especially recently. The latter has a bit of a mention over on the Tumblr account which might intrigue a few of you.

More soon, with any luck. Here’s hoping that all of you are doing well out there in the world. <3

I’d mentioned it before, but with the scene completed as of this page, I’m mentioning it again. I’m taking a fairly lengthy holiday from writing and drawing The Prophecy of the Circle. I’ll be back to posting new story pages on November 19th, and in between I’m going to be working on other projects that I’ve been itching to and haven’t had the time for, as well as taking time to read, play games, watch movies, and basically enjoy as many of the stories of others as I can. I find it’s hard to make your own stories if you aren’t exploring what others are crafting.

I don’t plan to let this page stagnate, however. I have a complete inability to stop doodling and creating, so look back here during the next few weeks for sketches and drawings and, maybe, just maybe, a short story or two if I can clean the rust off of my story-writing skill set. I’ve been doing scripts far too long, though, so no guarantees there.

I’ll be keeping the posts ProtC related here, with the rest being relegated to my Tumblr for those who are interested in non-spoilery bits of my other ideas.

Thanks for understanding, and I’ll see you in November for the next scene, where we go back to Tarsin to check on how Jahrd is doing. There’s the spring festival in Oros coming up, and after his recent run-in with Priestess Aeza, Jahrd has about as much to think about as Aurorin here does…

I just had so much I wanted to say that there was no way I could fit it all on one page so… you get two this week. It’s a sort of recap, what with all of the reused artwork and references to the past, but there’s new information woven in that I hope begins to tie everything together cleanly on the Tieke side of things.  There’s one more page of this back-and-forth for next week and then we begin to properly end the scene.

I also kind of wanted to get the filler page notice off of the journal space. Next week I’ll have to come up with something more neutral to fit here, as well. No more confusing warnings lingering about.

Dang. Dang, guys. Seriously, dang.

I hit that burn out thing. Many friends and family members have been eye-balling my sanity levels – dwindling between the increased hours of my day job and a few other real life stresses – and for the past month or so they’d been muttering that “Hey, it’s gonna happen. You’re gonna burn out, Meg.” They knew it. I knew it. Still, I’m stubborn. I acknowledged that they were probably right, shrugged, and pressed on.

My goal was to get to the end of this scene and then go on hiatus for a couple of weeks to get my creative energy back. I’m really close to the end here, but I just couldn’t push it any further.  This last week I first found myself unable to get faces drawn correctly, and then my ability to string sentences together disappeared. Then I started questioning even the foundations of my basic plot and getting paranoid that I was an absolute hack with no business telling stories (this is a thing, it happens). On Thursday I realized I was bashing my head into walls and not getting anything accomplished, and in fact probably doing way more damage than good.

So I finally had to take a break before I’d wanted to. Just for this week, though. Next week the comic returns, and I’ll keep rolling until the scene ends. Then, yeah, I’ll still need that hiatus. It was a mistake to not take a break at the end of the last scene. I’ll aim to take better care of myself in the future.

In the meanwhile, I happened to have a doodle that was lying around of Stiggs’ markings on his back, which we never see due to that big black coat of his. I’d meant to post it last week in the Tumblr, but something stopped me. Now I know what. I realized, subconsciously, that in a few days’ time you people would need….

a butt.
